Do you struggle to write content for your business? You’re not alone!

As a writer, you’d think that I would find it easy to write copy for my own website, blog and social media pages. Ha! I couldn’t have been more wrong – or more arrogant before I started writing for myself.

When you work as a freelancer for a big client, you’re usually armed with a tone of voice document, guidelines, creative briefs and more meetings than you can handle, which makes writing pretty easy, if I’m honest.

Similarly, if you’re working with a start-up or small business, they have a clear vision of what they’d like to say and how they want it presented, so you’re never short of inspiration or suggestions.

However, when you’re trying to promote yourself on socials, on your website and beyond, it’s not such a walk in the park. For example, ever since I launched this website, I’ve had a vision of a busy blog full of fun and helpful ideas, but in reality, I haven’t posted since September 2017!

The idea behind this post is to show authenticity in my business and that I’m just as big a procrastinator as the next person, but it’s not for lack of trying. When you write for your own business, there’s nothing to hide behind. No fancy company logo, no client brief, just you and your ideas.

When money is a motivator in your business – to be honest, when isn’t it? – the pressure to perform and attract new clients is almost too much to handle, leaving your blog empty for months.. like mine.

This blog is my space to be more than just a ‘professional writer’, it allows me to be real and show that sometimes life gets in the way and even a writer can’t find the time or inspiration to write!

When it comes to clients, I’m all over it – give me an exciting social media proposal or website revamp any day, but ask me to write a personal and inspiring blog on my own website? It’s tough.

I understand that sometimes, it’s easier to help your clients than it is to help yourself. If by any chance, you’re reading this and struggling to write your bio, a pitch or catchy social media posts, give me a shout and let’s see what I can do to help. Remember, I’m at my best when I’m helping YOU!
